DII Leadership

Jack Wurfl

Chairman of the Board

Jack Wurfl, is the founder and Chairman of the Board for DII. Jack has been in the insurance industry for well over 60 years and his life story is a testament to personal fortitude and strength of character. He instilled these characteristics into the firm he founded in 1969. Jack left post-World War II Germany as an orphan with his brother, landing first in New York, then traveled to Baltimore, Maryland where he started his family and business following time working with an insurance company, the US Army and a local insurance agency. He incorporated DII on December 6, 1969. It was founded on the idea of protecting what matters most to our clients. Jack believes in establishing relationships with his clients, partners and people using trust as the basis for all quality relationships. He has been providing meaningful advice to clients helping them to efficiently and effectively manage their risks to best safeguard those things that meant the most to them. Today, at DII, this is still our commitment to the clients we serve. While Jack has taken a step back from managing the overall daily operations of DII, he still comes to the office every day. He meets with the executive board quarterly and has a hand in all aspects of DII’s business operations. The company we are today reflects his values and belief on how to treat others with dignity and respect. When he is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his 3 daughters, Lisa, Dana and Odette and his four grandchildren, Elle, Thomas, Gillian and Aidan. Jack also enjoys golf, boating and deep-sea fishing. He is a fan of the Orioles and Iron Birds.

Jack is also the author of My Two Lives, an autobiography detailing the terror of living as a Jew under the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler during World War II – and his subsequent experiences as an immigrant to America after the war. The book is a testament to the power of the human spirit and our extraordinary ability to overcome difficult obstacles and challenges.

She successfully guided the agency with a tremendously capable team through a major software conversion. This followed her leadership in relocating the agency into our current home in Hunt Valley. Dana currently serves on the agency’s executive counsel and our leadership team, paying specific attention to our first and most important strategic priority – taking care of our people. Dana is married and has two children, Elle and Thomas. She enjoys exercise, hiking, skiing, boating, and spending time with her two dogs – Skylar & Stella
